Deputy Managing Editor, The Washington Post · I&#39;m a deputy managing editor at The Washington Post — a masthead editing role. The Post&#39;s deputy managing editors are broadly responsible for the newsroom&#39;s daily news report. My role among the five deputy managing editors is to lead The Post&#39;s live news strategies.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Previously, I was the Director of Social and Operations at The Post. In that role, I was responsible for The Post&#39;s work across social media platforms, search engine optimization, the newsroom&#39;s various digital strategies, the digital workflows that supported those strategies and the newsroom&#39;s products that supported those workflows.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Before this role, I was the Post&#39;s Deputy Audience Editor. I&#39;ve also led metrics strategy for the newsroom and led the creation and development of a bespoke engagement metric named Spectrum.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;When I joined The Post in 2014, my first job was to grow mobile web traffic. In this role, I co-led a year-long training effort for all Washington Post journalists. We taught reporters how to build their audience and write their own digital headlines.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;I&#39;ve worked in various digital editor and digital strategy roles throughout my career and have also been a technology columnist.
